HELENA – The disastrous health care bill that Greg Gianforte said he was “thankful” for would threaten health insurance for Montana’s kids in exchange for tax cuts for millionaires, said State Senator Margie MacDonald in a video released today by Rob Quist for Montana.
“Here we have Congress passing a tax break for families that make over $250,000 a year – many of them millionaires or billionaires like Rob’s opponent – and then taking healthcare away from people who really desperately need it,” said State Senator Margie MacDonald.
“Right now we have a millionaires’ club in Congress. And Montana has the opportunity to send a real person – a real genuine, authentic Montanan.”
The so-called “American Health Care Act” that Gianforte supports would eliminate health coverage for 70,000 Montanans who are covered under Medicaid expansion. More than 426,000 Montanans who have preexisting conditions would see their much-needed coverage put at risk if the bill became law. The bill also makes massive cuts to Medicaid and threatens essential health benefits like maternity care and prescription drugs.
Rob Quist this week is hosting “Hands Off Our Health Care” events across the state to raise awareness about the terrible bill and to give Montanans a voice as politicians like Gianforte work against Montana’s interests.
